The Only One is a deep song that explores grief and associated feelings of regret. The song evolves from a place of resistance to these thoughts and feelings to a more accepting state of feeling. The song is an invitation to lean into these feelings and accept this state of struggle until we can learn to sit with these difficult feelings and come to peace with them. It's all part of the process and leads to a more hopeful place, as visualized in the cover art by the bright light on the horizon. Although the character is oblivious to this light on the horizon while he struggles with this vicious storm, the light is there waiting, nonetheless, as he draws ever closer to a place of acceptance.
lyrics
Should I stop listenin’ to that song if it makes me miss you?
Is the pain of knowin’ you’re gone worth the beauty of feelin’ your soul?
You’d say don’t live in the past.
Ya gotta live, live, live, live, live right now.
Ya gotta live, live, live, live, live right now.
Everyone hurts sometimes.
Everyone feels so dead inside.
Sometimes I feel I’m the only one.
I’m the only one.
I’m the only one.
I can’t live with what I’ve done.
Even though you have forgiven me.
I just gotta forgive myself.
Accept the grace that God has given me.
Cause I don’t want to live in the past.
I gotta live, live, live, live, live right now.
I gotta live right now.
Everyone one hurts sometimes.
Everyone feels so dead inside.
Sometimes I feel I’m the only one.
I’m the only one.
I’m the only one.
Everyone hurts sometimes.
Everyone feels so dead inside.
Sometimes I feel…ohhhhhhhhh
Everyone hurts sometimes.
Everyone feels so dead inside.
Sometimes I feel I’m the only one.
I’m the only one.
Everyone hurts sometimes…
